Grid-Tied Systems
This is the best way to benefit from clean, renewable energy while benefiting from the convenience of the power grid. Your utility company will credit your account with each kWh your solar array produces. When your system produces more power than you are using, that excess power will be credited to your “kWh bank” account and then used to offset your usage when you are not producing as much. Over 90% of today’s photovoltaic systems are grid-tied systems.

A battery backup system consists of a small battery bank that will store electricity to power your “critical load” when the grid goes down. This gives you the benefit of a grid-tied system, with the peace of mind of battery backup power as well.
